40th Wedding Anniversary

This is one Wedding Anniversary
we will never forget.
We had planned to go skiing at Brundage for the day, but Rob said we had to be home and ready to go out by 4:00pm.  He would not say where we were going.  By 8:30am we were in our ski clothes and headed out of the house.  Outside we found it was really stormy looking, so we decided to stop in town and have breakfast and see what the dark skies would bring.  I can't remember what I ordered, but it was not good, in fact it was obvious something in the food was soured.  Rob mentioned it to the waiter.  The owner came out (the owner was in our ward and a friend) he insisted that we not pay for the breakfast.  So, we thought, "Oh, this is going to be a good day."  By now the storm had really kicked up, so we returned home, changed our ski clothes, to our cross country ski clothes and headed toward Ponderosa State Park  On the way to the Park we stopped at the Video Store and picked up a   Video to watch later that night.  The name of the Video was "The Brothers Grimm" which was            recommended by a friend. It happened to be our 10th movie and the movie was free, so again "This was going to be a good day".  We stopped by Bishop Dillon's house and stayed too long, so decided not to go Cross Country skiing either.  We went home and I got all dolled up for our date.  We left promptly at 4:00pm.  Rob started driving towards Boise and the storm was at it's worst.  We hardly could see the highway and I kept saying if you think we're going to Boise on these road, your crazy.  When we got to LakeFork, he turned off and headed towards Tamarack.

Rob had made reservations at the new restaurant
at Tamarack.  He had told them it was our anniversary
and asked for Flowers and Sparkling Martinelli
to be at table
When we got there they didn't even have a reservation for
us and it didn't matter, because there was only one other
family in the place.  Our meal was overly expensive, a small
piece of halibut swimming on a large plate of sauce.
We paid $8.00 extra for a salad which consisted of  two
Roman lettuce leaves rolled up with a dead fish
draped over the top.  It was a very poor meal.
Rob mentioned to the waitress about our reservation
and his special request.  She did feel bad about
it and gave us a complimentary dessert.
It was really fancy and again we said
"This is a Good Day:

Coming out of the restaurant we found the
storm had abated and it was a beautiful
night with light snow falling.  We were
enjoying the drive home until we rounded
a bend in the road and a large tree limb
was right in front of us

All we could do was dive for the floor
As the limb hit the window, it slide
up over the top of the truck
and did not come thru' the window

We were spared
We had a cell phone and called the Tamarack
security, who called the police

By the time we arrived home it was 10:30pm.

We put the video in, found it to be rather boring,
fell asleep on the coach and that was the end
of our 40th Wedding Anniversary.
It wasn't a "Very Good Day"
